report on our first meeting....

the central va emergent cohort held its first "official" gathering last night at Norm's Bar and Grille located at Faria's Restaurant in Forest, VA. I'm not sure how much we accomplished, but we had some fun times...

there were five of us rob, nick, liz, me, and jaime.

we decided to read a book over the summer and then discuss it in the fall (that way the college students won't miss too much of the conversation). We picked Dan Kimball's new book "They like Jesus, but not the Church" since its pretty applicable and should fit us well. If you want to take part, go buy or borrow the book. In the meantime, we will be meeting once a month to get to know one another and grow the group.

little did we know that it was karaoke night at Norm's and so we sang a few songs and Rob ended the night by treating the bar to Weird Al's "Amish Paradise" - good times, indeed...I look forward to the next meeting.

first gathering...

hello everyone - there has been a lot of interest, and I have spent the morning trying to work out a meeting location that would be fair to everyone. There seems to be a lot of you that are in the Southwest area and Roanoke is going to work out best for you...but that also puts a strain on those who are from other areas...so here is the compromise:

for the first meeting of the Central VA group I would like to encourage everyone to attend that is able to - with the understanding that this Fall a group in Southwest VA will be starting up and we will split up into more convenient meeting locations.

soooo (drum-roll please) the Central Virginia Emergent Cohort of Emergent Village will be meeting at Norm's Bar and Grille located on the terrace level of Faria's Twin Oaks Restaurant in Forest, VA at 7:00 on Thursday afternoon May 3rd.
Dress casual and prepare to play some pool.

directions are on the web site:
http://www.fariastwinoaks.net/

please let us know how many will be attending by replying to this post (rather than emailing me)
however, please feel free to email if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions.

Meeting in the next couple weeks!

Hi all, we are trying to decide on a meeting place and time for our first meeting. Some place where we can talk and relax - I had thought of Panera Bread or one of the Starbucks here in Lynchburg - but if there are folks from bedford or charlottesville interested, please let me know...any afternoons that are bad or times that are best???

peace, scott
